Republicans decidedly took control of the U.S. Senate and expanded their hold over the U.S. House of Representatives. Victories in West Virginia, Arkansas, South Dakota, Montana, Colorado, North Carolina and Iowa yielded more than the six necessary seats to establish a Republican majority.
A few key races have yet to be decided. Incumbent Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) is headed into a runoff election against Republican Congressman Bill Cassidy (R-LA). Also, votes are still being counted in both the Virginia and Alaska Senate race. Continue reading
